Question 1(a)
Flat strips of land have been created by cutting steps into hill slopes. This method, known as terracing, has made it possible to grow rice on hill slopes. This maximises the land for farming.

A lot of effort is also required to maintain the terraces after they are constructed.

I am so excited about this! Imagine growing vegetables and flowers underground; right at the basement of high-rise office buildings, in the middle of overcrowded cities!
